The Utah Mammoth rebrand, explained
Smith Entertainment Group revealed the permanent name on 7 May 2025, after a 13-month process with four rounds of fan voting. The team had played its first season, 2024 to 25, under the temporary Utah Hockey Club identity because the move from Arizona left too little time for a full brand.
NHL.com reported that the name, deliberately singular, honours an animal that lived in Utah during the last Ice Age about 10,000 years ago. The rallying cry is Tusks Up.
The colours stayed the same as the first season: Rock Black, Mountain Blue and Salt White. The identity was designed with Doubleday & Cartwright and includes a custom typeface with a 10 degree forward slant.
