The Utah Jazz rebrand, explained
The Jazz introduced Mountain Basketball on 5 June 2024, taking the unusual step of unveiling two seasons of uniforms at once. The team made the change gradually: the new colours started in the 2024 to 25 season, and yellow was fully phased out for 2025 to 26.
The team called the J-Note one of the most iconic and functional logos in sports and kept it as the primary icon. ESPN reported that it turns purple and drops the Utah Jazz wordmark underneath, and that the team called the change an evolution rather than a rebrand.
The colours recall the Stockton and Malone era of 1996 to 2004, with the blue a nod to the 2004 to 2010 uniforms. The team worked with design firm Doubleday & Cartwright on the concept and with Nike on the uniforms.
In short: Purple is back.
