The University of Bath rebrand, explained

The university announced the change in two posts on bath.ac.uk on Oct 21, 2026. It called the date the start of a transition rather than a deadline, so the old and new identities will appear side by side for a while on its websites, digital channels and campus.

The university said it "retained our Gorgon's head logo, anchoring ourselves in Bath's history, while evolving it to work better in the digital age." Around 3,000 voices from 79 countries helped shape the work, and a further 1,000 people gave feedback on the visual options. New colors and fonts reflect its heritage in the city of Bath, its campus architecture and its beginnings as a technological institute, under the line "We make futures."

Side by side, the old logo paired an engraved Gorgon's head roundel with "University of Bath" in serif capitals over a heavy rule. The new one redraws the roundel with a thin outer ring and finer detail, and sets the name in sans serif capitals without the rule.

In short: The University of Bath redrew its Gorgon's head roundel and swapped its serif wordmark and rule for sans serif capitals.
