The San Diego Padres rebrand, explained
The Padres unveiled the new look at Petco Park on 9 November 2019. AP noted the scheme recalls the brown and gold the franchise wore from its start in 1969 until 1984.
SportsLogos.Net reported that the updated SD is the primary mark, with a new Swinging Friar as an alternate. MLB.com said the club's blue and white look had been widely regarded as bland, even by some inside the organisation.
In short: Brown is back.
