Univision

Rebrand · 28 Jan 2019

The four-part tulip or heart symbol in magenta, red, green and blue was kept but flattened: the reflections were removed, the gradients simplified and the green piece made smaller. The grey "univision" wordmark beside it stayed.

The Univision rebrand, explained

Univision unveiled the updated logo on air across the network on 28 January 2019. Media Moves reported that it was the first touch-up since the company revamped the logo in 2012 into a 3D image, and that the new version went back to a flat logo with a smaller green piece, no reflections and simpler gradients.

The company said the goal was to "give it a cleaner, more modern appearance and improve its usability" across its platforms, and to "better align the look of the network and local stations in a cohesive manner." The refresh supported its internal positioning, "Bringing together hispanics on the rise."

PRODU reported that the network kept the tulip or heart shape because it was easily recognised by viewers, and that it worked with the New York brand agency Sibling Rivalry. A modernised look for local news was planned for that summer.

In short: The tulip lost its 3D.
