The Keysight Technologies rebrand, explained

Agilent announced the name of its electronic measurement spin-off on Jan 7, 2014. The business traces its roots to the original Hewlett-Packard Company, and the release said it would have about 9,500 employees, with headquarters in Santa Rosa, California.

"This name captures the spirit of our organization—innovative, insightful and forward-looking," said Ron Nersesian, president and chief executive of Keysight.

The release described the logo directly. Keysight's symbol is a stylized waveform, the shape of a common electrical signal, chosen to reflect the company's full focus on electronic measurement. The corporate colors are Keysight Red and Keysight Gray.

Agilent completed the spin-off on Nov 3, 2014, and Keysight began trading on the New York Stock Exchange as KEYS. The red waveform still sits next to the Keysight wordmark. As this was a new company, there is no earlier Keysight mark to compare it with.

In short: Agilent's measurement spin-off, signed with a red waveform for an electrical signal.
