The Allegion rebrand, explained
Ingersoll Rand named its planned security spin-off Allegion on Jun 17, 2013 and unveiled the logo on Jul 9, 2013. The business brought together brands including CISA, Interflex, LCN, Schlage and Von Duprin, and the release said it had more than 7,600 employees worldwide.
The release explained the mark. The logo features a lowercase a, created through a deliberate arrangement of panels and openings often seen in architecture blueprints, and its vibrant orange color is meant to suggest the company's energy.
Michael W. Lamach, chairman and chief executive of Ingersoll Rand, said: "People depend on our products and solutions to work seamlessly at critical moments, and function effortlessly in daily use. We designed Allegion’s logo to reflect the vital nature of what we do, and to emphasize the things that make us unique in the marketplace."
Allegion debuted as a standalone public company on the New York Stock Exchange as ALLE on Dec 2, 2013. The orange a sits next to an Allegion wordmark in dark gray capitals. As this was a new company, there is no earlier Allegion mark to compare it with.
In short: Ingersoll Rand's security spin-off, with an orange a drawn like a blueprint of panels and openings.
