The TalkTalk rebrand, explained

TalkTalk entered UK broadband in 2003 as a noisy upstart. By 2025 it was trying to remember how that felt. In September the company unveiled a refreshed brand identity, redesigned website and app, and a marketing campaign, which it framed as the next step in a wider transformation aimed at offering UK consumers a better way to Wi-Fi.

The visible change is colour. TalkTalk said the new identity's electric green and shocking pink tones were designed to reflect its challenger position in the Wi-Fi market, and Prolific North reported that the palette was meant to stand out in a crowded market and reflect a focus on customer experience. The look went live first on the new website, with a refreshed self service app following later in the month.

Chief executive Susie Buckridge put the mission plainly: TalkTalk was returning to its challenger roots, focused on reliable Wi-Fi without jargon or fuss at the right price, and on making Wi-Fi easier to understand. Marketing director Amy Gilbert was franker still. The aim, she told Prolific North, was to reignite the brand with a vibrant look and a feisty tone of voice that would stand out, signal change and revive its challenger spirit, and to get TalkTalk back on the radar without the deep pockets of its rivals.

The campaign, Now you're TalkTalkin', launched on 11 September across social, video on demand, outdoor and audio. Its films, directed by Tim McNaughton, play on scenes that turn out surprisingly better than expected, including a twist on The Princess and the Frog. Behind the paint job sits more substantial work: a move to a new customer management platform built with Kraken Technologies, replacing legacy systems so that one agent can solve a customer's problem instead of passing them around.

Loud colour is the oldest trick for a challenger with a small budget, and it can work. Electric green and shocking pink are hard to miss, which is the point. The risk is that a palette promises a personality the service has to deliver. The Kraken migration suggests TalkTalk understands that; the branding only earns its swagger if the help line gets better too.

In short: Loud colours for a challenger on a budget.
