The Lefties rebrand, explained
Lefties began as an outlet for Zara. FashionUnited's Jaime Martinez traced its history from around 1993, when Inditex set it up to sell surplus and slightly flawed garments from the group's chains, through its first own collections from 2012, a first logo and store renewal in 2013 and an online shop from 2014. In late May 2025 the chain presented its second logo change since its founding, alongside the launch of Lefties Home.
Both Reason Why and FashionUnited reported that the rebrand was by the Barcelona creative consultancy Córdova Canillas. FashionUnited noted the studio, founded in 2012 by Diego Córdova and Martí Canillas, had previously drawn Pull&Bear's logo introduced in April 2023. The new mark keeps the full name in black or white but replaces the lowercase letters used since the start with all capitals: sans serif letterforms with orthogonal, clean lines, straight terminals and a well resolved balance in the spacing between the F and the T. The online shop uses a single black L on white, while social channels keep the full wordmark.
Reason Why's newsroom described the capitals as more sober and simple, and pointed out that the look recalls Inditex's own logo, updated in mid 2022, and Massimo Dutti's 2024 renewal, suggesting a deliberate homogenisation across the group's brands. The launch ran under the line Lefties Everywhere, on Everyone, presented by the brand as a new beginning. Citing Modaes, Reason Why reported plans to open stores with the new image in France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany in 2026.
FashionUnited read the switch to capitals as Lefties growing up within the Inditex family, and that is the point. A lowercase, wide spaced wordmark said discount annex; tidy capitals say a chain that intends to take Primark on directly. The problem is the one Reason Why noticed. When Inditex, Massimo Dutti, Pull&Bear and now Lefties all reach for the same clean capital sans, the brands start to read as one house style with different names. That suits the group's portfolio logic and undermines the chain's personality. For a value brand entering new countries, distinctiveness matters more than family resemblance.
In short: Capital letters for a chain growing up.
