The LATAM Airlines rebrand, explained

LAN of Chile and TAM of Brazil combined in 2012 but kept flying under their own names. On 6 August 2015 LATAM Airlines Group announced a single brand, LATAM, for all its passenger and cargo airlines. The group said the change would become visible in 2016.

The rollout started on 28 April 2016, when the group revealed its new aircraft design at launch events across the region. The first commercial flights in the new colours followed on 5 May. That rollout date is the one used here. The fleet repaint was expected to be finished in 2018.

Indigo and coral are the signature colours of the new logo, the group said. "In the coming days, aircraft with the new LATAM image will take to the skies, representing a historic milestone for the leading airline group in Latin America," said CEO Enrique Cueto at the rollout. The before logo shown is LAN's, as TAM had its own. The official after file has a white wordmark for the dark site header, so the light-mode view shows an adapted copy with dark letters.

In short: Two airlines, one name, and two new colours.
