## The rebrand, explained

Taxfix, the Berlin tax-filing app founded in 2016 by Mathis Büchi and Lino Teuteberg, announced a comprehensive rebrand on 11 January 2024, developed with the Helsinki agency Kallan & Co. The company said the new identity reflects its development into a multi-product, multi-platform business and its mission to improve finances for everyone.

Design Tagebuch's Achim Schaffrinna reported that it was the first comprehensive change to the Taxfix brand design since its founding, and noted the company's line that the new look would let it tailor the user experience to different users across markets.

The logo details come from Taxfix itself. Creative design lead Viola Vogel called it an evolution rather than a complete redesign: the percent sign replacing the x was kept as a homage to the company's beginnings, while the lettering was radically simplified. Taxfix's rebrand page specifies the changes: a modernised font, no dot on the i, and the left side of the T stem cut away, with type foundry Schick Toikka involved. The house typeface is ROM from the Berlin foundry ABC Dinamo, the familiar green was kept after customer testing and expanded into several shades, and secondary colours of lilac, gold and blue were drawn from the euro.

This is a sensible, almost invisible refresh, and the honest description is Vogel's own. Keeping the percent sign was the right call: it is the one idea in the logo and it tells you what the product does. Removing the i dot and clipping the T are the kind of edits only the design team will notice. The euro-derived palette is the more interesting move, though it ties the brand's colours to one currency.

In short: Percent sign kept, i dot gone.
