## The rebrand, explained

norisbank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bank based in Bonn, began rolling out a new brand identity with the relaunch of its website. Modern Banking reported that norisbank.de had appeared in the new identity since 28 January 2026. Design Tagebuch's Achim Schaffrinna, writing on 16 February, noted that the logo was being redesigned for the first time in two decades, and traced the bank's origins to the Noris Kaufhilfe set up in 1954 by the mail order house Quelle.

Design Tagebuch described the changes precisely. The two-part rounded body of the old logo was removed. The word and picture mark, now black instead of white, stands freely on an orange background. The circular graphic inside the wordmark, used on its own as a sender and profile picture, was redrawn so that the four strokes inside it now run diagonally in straight lines. The lowercase wordmark is still set in FF Dax Wide. The corporate colours moved from a red and yellow scheme to orange and a dark anthracite as primary colours.

Modern Banking saw a design tuned much harder for contrast, with large orange and black surfaces replacing white and light grey, a logo made more striking by darker type, and new language such as Matcht perfekt and Ready aimed at a younger, digital audience. Both outlets pointed to the staggered rollout: online banking, the app, applications and newsletters were initially left in the old design. Modern Banking noted that running two looks in parallel raises the phishing risk, and the bank posted security warnings. The bank's own design page says the aim is to be clearer and faster for customers.

Shedding the rounded red and yellow container finally separates norisbank from its catalogue credit past, and the black on orange combination is far more legible than white on a bar. Straightening the strokes in the o is a small change that makes the symbol work as an icon. The rollout is the problem. Schaffrinna was right that a youthful website followed by old online banking breaks the customer journey at the worst moment. Rebranding a bank one channel at a time also teaches customers that two looks can both be real, which is exactly what fraudsters want.

In short: Black on orange, one channel at a time.
