## The rebrand, explained

Keen is an online platform connecting people with spiritual advisors. Its old branding looked clean but a little clinical. With people increasingly turning to AI assistants, coaching platforms and astrology to navigate uncertainty, Keen wanted to play a more everyday role, offering a different perspective on the questions in front of people rather than just predictions for major life events. Mother Design was hired to 'reframe psychic guidance for modern life', Creative Review and Creative Boom reported in 2026.

Mother Design's creative director said wellness had become surprisingly uniform, with white space, muted palettes, rounded typography and gentle promises as the category default. The aim was for Keen to feel just as calm and approachable, but richer, warmer and unmistakably its own.

The core is a rich illustrative world created with illustrator María Jesús Contreras, drawing on folk art and blending cityscapes, countryside, spiritual symbols and everyday life into one interconnected tapestry. Rather than standalone images, scenes and symbols are extracted for the website, app and communications. Circular and elliptical frames contain the whimsy. The palette, inspired by the earliest pigments in human art, pairs an earthy red with warm white, yellow and green. Typography combines a variation of the expressive serif Season with a humanist sans, balancing ancient influences with contemporary accessibility. Photography spotlights real advisors to stress the human connection that separates Keen from AI alternatives.

Creative Boom headlined it as a folk-art rebrand that takes on minimalist wellness.

Creative Review set out the commercial pressure: people were turning to AI assistants, coaching platforms and astrology to navigate uncertainty, and Keen wanted an everyday role rather than one tied to major life events and grand predictions. Photography spotlights the real advisers to reinforce the human connection that distinguishes Keen from AI alternatives. The creative director's diagnosis, that wellness has become surprisingly uniform with white space, muted palettes and gentle promises, is exactly right, and folk art is a confident way out of it.

That is the right fight. Folk art suits a service that sells ancient practice, and the illustration is rich enough to carry a whole brand. The irony is that by rejecting one category default, Keen lands close to another, the warm illustrated world now beloved of tarot apps. Still, it is far better executed than most.

In short: Folk art for psychic advice.
