## The rebrand, explained

The station says the new look builds on being a feel-good brand. It draws on Time Out South Africa's 'The Joy Revolution' research, in which 81% of people said spending time with people they like gives them energy and 74% said resting gives them equal satisfaction.

Managing director Vuyani Dombo said: "Being a feel-good brand has always been central to who we are, but it's also about understanding what that means to people in their everyday lives. 'The Joy Revolution' research reinforced that some of the things that make us happiest are often the simplest. We want Jacaranda FM to be part of those moments, bringing a little more joy into people's days."

According to the announcement, the new font has "a smile woven into almost every letter", and the station now reaches people beyond radio, through content, digital, social, live experiences and brand partnerships. The announcement names no design studio.

The old logo had a white droplet-shaped icon with a j traced in yellow, edged in cyan on the left and magenta on the right, next to a lowercase jacaranda fm wordmark in white. The new logo drops the three colours: the icon is a solid white droplet with the j cut out of it, and the lowercase wordmark is bolder.
