## The rebrand, explained

AVM was founded in Berlin 39 years before it gave up its name. On 5 August 2025 the company announced that AVM GmbH would become FRITZ! GmbH. Its release explained the arithmetic: FRITZ! has brand awareness of around 80 percent in Germany and is one of the best known brands in home networking, internet and smart home, while awareness of the corporate brand AVM is much lower. The products had always carried the FRITZ! name; now the company would too, for clear, consistent and more immediate recognition.

heise online's Mark Mantel reported the change the same morning and filled in the visual side. The old domain avm.de had already redirected to fritz.com since March, and the logo had changed to an F! or FRITZ! in the typeface typical of the products, appearing on all of the former AVM's products. Product brands such as Fritzbox remain. heise also noted the ownership context: Luxembourg investor Imker Capital Partners took over AVM in summer 2024, ending its time as a family business, and the company was now German and Luxembourgish.

The company stressed that the change affects only the corporate name and that nothing changes for partners and customers. Business customers were asked to update their master data, with tax and registration numbers and bank details unchanged, and email addresses and the business portal URL to move over in the following weeks.

This is the rare rebrand that needs no defending. When four in five people in your home market know your product name and few know the company behind it, renaming the company after the product is just housekeeping. The logo work is correspondingly modest. Using the existing FRITZ! lettering rather than inventing a corporate mark keeps the product's equity, and F! makes a compact icon. The exclamation mark is still faintly ridiculous for a router maker. But it is theirs.

In short: The product finally names the company.
