## The rebrand, explained

Labcorp announced on Feb 9, 2023 that its clinical development business would be called Fortrea. The release said the new company would have more than 19,000 people and offer Phase I through IV clinical trial management. The brand identity would take effect with the spin-off.

The release explained the logo: incorporating the F from Fortrea, it is an arrow representing forward momentum, and it makes a visual nod to the data that powers the company's approach.

Tom Pike, then head of the clinical development business and Fortrea's future chief executive, said: "The announcement of Fortrea signals to the world what we are building: a leading, pure-play CRO positioned to serve customers, deliver life-changing medicines faster and create lasting value for all our stakeholders." Labcorp chief marketing officer Amy Summy called the debut of the brand "a defining moment".

Labcorp completed the spin-off on Jul 3, 2023, and Fortrea began trading on the Nasdaq as FTRE. The green F arrow sits next to the Fortrea wordmark. As this was a new company, there is no earlier Fortrea mark to compare it with.
