## The rebrand, explained

Artie makes software that copies every change from a production database into a data warehouse, lake or Kafka topic in close to real time. The post opens: "Today, Artie has a new brand. The elephant stayed and everything else changed."

Cheong writes: "The wordmark is lowercase because we type the name more than we say it." The new visual system starts with two shapes: "Circles are 0s, rectangles are 1s." The baby elephant, first drawn when the company needed a logo for Y Combinator in 2023, was redrawn on a grid and kept. The post credits the identity to Base Design.

The old wordmark was the name Artie with a capital A drawn as a rounded arch. The new wordmark on the company's site is the name artie in lowercase letters in dark brown, with a round a and a tall, narrow t.

In short: In 2026 Artie swapped its Artie wordmark with an arch-shaped A for a lowercase wordmark by Base Design and kept its elephant.
